8x16ft LED Sign on the Road

The 8 by 16 foot size is one of the most common outdoor digital LED sign sizes for commercial roadside advertising. At 9.52mm pitch, it starts to look smooth from about 60 feet out, which is right where highway traffic passes. The 10,000 nits brightness means you can run full-color video through the afternoon without washing out against the sky. We ship this as a single-sided 8x16 LED billboard or as a double-sided 8x16 LED sign facing both directions of traffic — most of our US sign company customers order the double-sided version for highway medians and corner lots.

Night and Dusk Visibility

When the sun goes down the light sensor steps brightness down automatically, so the screen doesn't blind drivers. On a double-sided 8x16 installation, both faces run the same controller — you can show different content on each side if you want, or mirror them. Common cathode power means you're pulling about 20 amps average at 120V, which is manageable for most commercial service panels.

The Cabinet

Each 2x4ft cabinet is die-cast aluminum and weighs 51 lbs. Eight cabinets make up one face — 16 for a double-sided build. We use common cathode LEDs, which runs about 30% cooler and uses less power than a standard module. Every cabinet is front-service: modules, power supplies and receiving cards all come out the front, so your crew works from the front of the screen on a scissor lift or bucket truck. No rear access wall needed.

What You Get in the Box

One order of the 8x16 outdoor LED sign includes the LED cabinets, a Novastar dual-mode controller with light sensor, four spare 1x2ft modules, silk-screen printing with your logo and phone number on the back cover, and plywood crates. We ship DDP ocean freight door-to-door to anywhere in the US — customs, duties and the last-mile trucking are all included in the price. Typical lead time is 60 days including shipping.

How Installation Works

We make the screen. Your local sign company or electrical contractor handles the pole, foundation and 240V service drop. We send dimension drawings, the electrical requirement sheet and a mounting bracket layout before the order ships, and our engineer stays on WhatsApp while your crew hangs it. We've done this enough times for US sign dealers that the install usually goes without surprises.

Most orders come through sign companies buying for their own customers — car dealerships, churches, banks, hardware stores and gas stations on main highways. The double-sided 8x16 version is popular on corner lots where you've got traffic coming from two directions.
