The D96 is a 96 sheet digital LED billboard built around a 3 × 12 metre (10 × 40 ft) SMD LED panel. It is intended for advertisers and sign contractors who need a fixed roadside screen that stays legible in British daylight, runs on standard UK mains, and can be serviced without a rear access platform.
Why a 96 Sheet Digital Billboard?
The 96 sheet (3 m × 12 m) has been the standard roadside poster format across the UK and Ireland for decades. Converting a printed 96 sheet face to a digital panel means the same structure can run multiple advertisers through the day, schedule time-sensitive copy, and update content remotely without a print run. The D96 is dimensioned to drop into an existing 96 sheet steel frame.
The D96 in Detail
The cabinet is die-cast aluminium at roughly 24 kg per square metre and 60 mm deep. LED strips use common-cathode driving, which draws less current and runs cooler than conventional constant-drive modules — a practical benefit for screens that run 16 hours a day beside a motorway. Refresh is 3,840 Hz, which keeps the image clean on phone captures and avoids banding on motion graphics.
The outdoor cabinet range: 10.4 mm DIP, 7.8 mm SMD and 3.9 mm SMD modules in 500 × 1000, 750 × 1000 and 1000 × 1000 mm frames.
What Sets It Apart
Front-service modules
Modules and receiving cards are removed from the front with a standard tool. No rear gantry or access ladder is needed, which matters on bridge-mounted and double-sided frames.
Common-cathode drive
Lower forward voltage per LED reduces power consumption by roughly a quarter against older constant-drive cabinets, and keeps junction temperatures down for longer LED life.
Lightweight aluminium frame
At 24 kg/m² and 60 mm deep, the dead load on an existing 96 sheet pole is modest. Most installations reuse the existing structure and concrete foundation.
Safety rope on every module
Each LED module is tethered to the frame. A dropped module during service is a recognised hazard on roadside work; the rope makes it impossible.
Modular replacement
A single cabinet holds 4, 6 or 8 modules. If one module fails, the rest of the cabinet keeps running — the screen does not go down for a swap.
Five-year warranty
The D96 carries a five-year hardware and parts warranty including pixel cover, and is CE marked for sale across the UK and EU.
Front-access service tool and module safety rope. Modules unclip and lift away without disconnecting the whole cabinet.

The D96 is specified by sign contractors and media owners for motorway adjacencies, high street retail locations, transport hubs and forecourt advertising. It is built as a single-sided panel but can be paired back-to-back for double-sided roadside frames. Because it runs on standard UK 230 V mains and draws around 180–260 W/m² average, operating cost is comparable to a well-spec'd conventional 96 sheet lightbox once the print and labour savings are counted.
